The British newspaper The Telegraph last week reported that military drones from Ukraine, reminiscent of the war happening nearby for the Baltic countries, were diverted off course by a powerful Russian transmitter in Kaliningrad (Königsberg).

According to the publication, the transmitter can block GPS signals over hundreds of kilometers in Baltic airspace.

The drones are said to be diverted off course first by affecting their GPS receivers with a powerful noise pulse, and later Russia broadcasts a fake signal that forces the drone to “obey”.

Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas told 15min that the information published by The Telegraph is most likely not correct, as the possibility of affecting drones from Kaliningrad is close to zero.
