On Wednesday, during operations in northern Bosnia, near Bistrica, two groups of people attempting to illegally cross the border were detained, according to a border police report.

One group consisted of 40 Pakistani and 23 Bangladeshi citizens.
Separately, in the same area, another 33 migrants – citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan – were detained, the report adds.
The police confiscated two boats that the migrants intended to use to cross the Sava River and identified two suspected smugglers.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is on the so-called Balkan route, which undocumented migrants constantly use to reach the EU.

According to data from the EU border protection agency “Frontex,” more than 4,900 cases of illegal border crossings were recorded on the Balkan route during the first seven months of this year.
“Frontex” data shows that this number was 26% lower compared to the same period last year.
