According to the report, A. Šakalys worked for more than 25 years in the State Border Guard Service, in the security system of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. For the past six years, he has been the elder of Dūkštas.

A. Šakalys himself said that the decision to run was influenced by many years of work experience in the region and daily communication with local people.

The early parliamentary elections in the northern district of Nalšia will be held on November 8.
