Coastal Park established in Klaipėda by the Danė River for 140 thousand euros

On Wednesday, August 26, the renovated space was officially presented to the public. This is the first project of its kind to renew a public city space through cooperation between the municipality and business. Benches created by the teams of “SBA Home” companies were installed on the waterfront. Each of them is a unique handmade creation with an original idea and meaning.

Implementing the project, the Klaipėda city municipality renovated the quay section near the “Klaipėdos baldų” factory – expanded pedestrian paths, installed a pontoon quay, and improved the surroundings.

“Danė is a great asset of Klaipėda, so we aim for the riverbanks to be as open to people as possible and to live together with the whole city. This renovated quay section is open to all Klaipėda residents and city guests who want to meet, relax, and spend time by the water. We hope that the city’s investment of 78 thousand euros will be meaningful and bring more life to this part of the Danė quay, which will become part of the daily route of Klaipėda residents. It is pleasing that business also contributed to this project, not limiting itself to just tidying up its own territory but contributing to what will remain for Klaipėda and its people,” says Algirdas Kamarauskas, Deputy Mayor of Klaipėda city municipality.

The renovated quay has become not only a place of rest for Klaipėda residents. The “Klaipėdos baldų” team installed a “Window to Production” there, through which passersby can observe the robots operating in the company and get closer acquainted with the furniture manufacturing process. By scanning the QR code on the nearby plaque, visitors can learn more about the history of “Klaipėdos baldų” and watch a video presenting the factory.

On the day of the waterfront park opening, event participants had the opportunity to take a special tour of the “Klaipėdos baldų” factory and get acquainted with its history, employees, and production processes.

More than 500 people work at “Klaipėdos baldai,” and the majority of them are Klaipėda residents. Therefore, Klaipėda is not only the city where we operate – it is our home. We are an integral part of the city community, so it is important for us to be open and show what we live by. The “Window to Production” provides an opportunity to look beyond the factory walls, see modern production, technologies, and how furniture is made up close. We see that Klaipėda residents are truly interested – the tour of the “Klaipėdos baldų” factory held on the event day attracted such interest that registration had to be stopped after all places were filled. For us, this is a clear sign that people want to get to know a modern and contemporary factory up close, so we plan to hold more such meetings in the future,” says Justas Baltrušis Baltrušaitis, head of the company “Klaipėdos baldai.”
