Beijing hopes that these domestically produced aircraft will reduce China’s dependence on foreign technology and help it establish itself in the global market.
The C919 aircraft, manufactured by the state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and operated by Air China, took off from Beijing at 15:17 local time (07:17 GMT) on Wednesday and landed in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, at 16:58 (08:58 GMT).
C919 aircraft are produced in China, but their components are supplied from various countries, including the United States.

The C919 made its first domestic commercial flight in May 2023, flying from Shanghai to Beijing. Since then, these aircraft have been regularly used on domestic commercial routes, as well as routes between mainland China and Hong Kong.
COMAC also showcased the C919 at the Singapore Airshow in 2024 and 2026, and at the Dubai Airshow in 2025.
