Brussels welcomes Apple’s steps to comply with digital space rules

In April 2025, the Commission fined Apple 500 million euros, deciding that the company violated EU rules by not allowing developers to direct customers outside the App Store to take advantage of cheaper offers.

The EU statement says that Apple committed to offering developers “refined” conditions for both iPhone and iPad, specifically allowing them to choose between the App Store, third-party app stores, or the internet as distribution channels.
