According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the city of Lomza. Firefighters received a call reporting a young child unattended on a balcony.

As the news portal “Zero.pl” writes, the girl spent about an hour alone on the balcony. Then she climbed onto the balcony railings and crossed over to the neighboring apartment’s balcony.
It is reported that three firefighter teams were dispatched to the scene, but neighbors began the rescue operation even before they arrived.
Their brave decision was captured by surveillance cameras installed in the apartment complex.
Three men who noticed the girl climbed over the partition to the first-floor terrace and spread a blanket under the balcony. When the girl lost strength and released the railings she was holding, she began to fall but was caught by the blanket prepared by the neighbors just moments before.
According to the police, the impact force was very strong, but the blanket softened the fall.
“An exemplary behavior of the neighbors who noticed this and caught the child on the blanket most likely saved this girl’s life,” said Karolina Wojciekian, deputy commissioner of Lomza, quoted by the portal “myLomza24”.

Could not wake the mother
A doctor living in the neighborhood provided the child with necessary medical assistance even before the rescue services arrived. The girl remained conscious and avoided serious injuries.
Later, the young girl was taken to the hospital for examinations. Doctors found only general bruises. Her life is not in danger.
Meanwhile, police officers visited the 27-year-old girl’s mother, who was found to be in the apartment during the incident, with 0.7 per mille of alcohol in her blood.
The news agency PAP reports that she was only awakened by loud knocking from the neighbors at the door.
According to the media, the family was already known to the district police officers, and neighbors unofficially stated that a party took place in the apartment on the night from Saturday to Sunday.
Based on “myLomza24” data, the police plan to charge the mother under Article 160 of the Penal Code for causing direct danger to life or serious health impairment. The woman faces up to 5 years in prison.
