This year LAID BACK returns to Lithuania – on July 12th at the Palanga Concert Hall they will hold the “Sunshine Reggae Night”. And it will not be a concert of just one song. It will be a whole summer evening with a band whose music has sounded for several decades like the soundtrack of holidays, the sea, the sun, and carefree living.

“Sunshine Reggae”, “Bakerman”, “White Horse”, “High Society Girl”, “I’m Crazy”, “Elevatorboy” – these are songs that many recognize not from the list of titles, but from the first chords. They remind of car trips to the sea, summer parties, warm evenings with friends, and that feeling when you can finally take your time.

That is why Palanga seems like a natural place for this concert. LAID BACK’s music is not meant for a closed hall and a serious facial expression – it is meant for summer. It is for people who want to switch off everyday life for one evening and return to a lighter mood.

After last year’s visit, the band members remember with a smile that Lithuanian hospitality surprised them no less than the Lithuanian audience.

“When the creators of the global hit ‘Sunshine Reggae’ taste cold beetroot soup and cepelinai, you realize that music really has no borders. LAID BACK members were very warm, curious, and sincere guests – they were interested in Lithuania, laughed, tasted everything we offered. And their music fits Palanga perfectly: it sounds like summer. Therefore, I believe that July 12th in Palanga will be a special evening,” says Birutė Petrikytė, a Lithuanian pop legend and owner of the restaurant “Birutės uostas”.

According to LAID BACK members, after the concert in Lithuania they experienced an evening they have not forgotten to this day.

“After the concert in Lithuania, we had a real Lithuanian evening. The cold beetroot soup surprised us with its color, the cepelinai with their size, and the Lithuanian vodka with its strength. We joked that now we know where Lithuanians draw their strength from. It was a very warm, fun, and truly unforgettable evening,” recalls one of LAID BACK’s founders John Guldberg.

Cepelinai became a separate story of the evening for the Danish musicians. “When cepelinai appeared on the table after the concert, we realized that Lithuanian hospitality is a very serious matter. It was not a light snack, but a whole experience – hearty, fun, and very sincere,” smiles another member of the legendary duo Tim Stahl.

The biggest surprise for the musicians was the cold beetroot soup – an unusual bright pink soup for Danes became one of the most memorable highlights of the evening.

“When we were told that the bright pink soup is one of Lithuanians’ favorite summer dishes, we were really surprised. But after tasting it, we understood – it fits summer very well. Cold beetroot soup has the same feeling as a good summer song: at first it surprises, then you want more,” says Tim Stahl.

However, the evening of July 12th in Palanga will not be about nostalgia just at the table. “Sunshine Reggae Night” is an evening where the whole LAID BACK atmosphere returns to the seaside: sun, freedom, a light rhythm, and hits recognized by several generations.

“Sunshine Reggae” is one of those songs that you only need to hear for a few seconds – and it’s already clear what mood is being talked about. It sounds like a holiday. Like summer by the sea. Like an evening when you still don’t want to go home.

“Bakerman” has a completely different color – a slow, hypnotic rhythm and that LAID BACK characteristic strange but memorable lightness. It is a song that does not shout, but draws you in. Such songs create an atmosphere live that cannot be replicated in a playlist.

“White Horse” is a bolder, clubbier, and more rhythmic face of the band. It is a song that reminds that LAID BACK is not just a “calm summer band”. Their music also has night, dance, and city energy.

“High Society Girl”, “I’m Crazy”, “Elevatorboy” and other songs complement the evening with what made LAID BACK recognizable worldwide – minimal sound, light irony, good mood, and a rhythm that never ages.

Therefore, this concert in Palanga is important not only for those who grew up with LAID BACK’s music. It is for everyone who wants to hear live songs that still play on the radio, at parties, summer trips, and in memories.

The band members emphasize that Palanga was chosen for this concert not by chance. “LAID BACK’s music has always been about lightness, summer, and good mood. This is not a concert only for those who know the entire band’s discography by heart. It is an evening for people who want to hear live songs that accompanied their summers. Palanga, the sea, and ‘Sunshine Reggae’ – a very natural combination. On July 12th we want to create not just a concert, but a real summer event,” says the legendary duo.

LAID BACK members say that Lithuania left a warm impression on them not only on stage but also after the concert. “Lithuania left us a very warm impression – not only on stage but also after the concert, at the table. Cepelinai were a strong experience, cold beetroot soup a vivid surprise, and the people very sincere. On July 12th we want to return the same good energy to the Palanga audience,” promised Tim Stahl.

LAID BACK – Sunshine Reggae Night will take place on July 12th at 7 PM at the Palanga Concert Hall. Tickets are sold by kakava.lt This will be an evening worth coming to not just to “listen to a concert”. It is worth coming for the feeling. For the songs that instantly bring back summer. For Palanga, the sea, live music, and the opportunity to spend one evening as July should sound – light, warm, and with a smile.

“Sunshine Reggae” has become a symbol, but the LAID BACK concert in Palanga is much more than just one hit. It is the whole summer mood in one evening.
