In the social media group “Weather Enthusiasts,” people from different districts share impressive images of lightning they have captured. According to forecasts, the stormy weather band was expected to affect the eastern part of Lithuania.

People recorded lightning in the districts of Varėna, Molėtai, Utena, Ignalina, Švenčionys, Ukmergė, Šalčininkai, Širvintos, in Vilnius city and district.
In some places, people complained about power outages.
The lightning started even before midnight and the light show continued for several hours in different locations.
According to the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, on Monday short rains are expected in many districts, sometimes with thunder. Hail is possible. Wind from the north, northwest, 8–13 m/s, during thunderstorms gusts of 15–20 m/s in some places. The highest temperature 25–30, in the Curonian Spit 22–24 degrees.
For part of Lithuania, “Meteo LT” also issues warnings about thunderstorms. Currently, a yellow warning is in effect for the Alytus, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Telšiai, Klaipėda, Tauragė, and Marijampolė counties.

The warning for thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 15-17 m/s for the Southeast Baltic and Curonian Lagoon region is valid only in the evening from 18:00 to 22:00.
It is recommended here not to enter the water during lightning, not to run, and not to stand under poles or posts.
