Considering the attacks on infrastructure throughout the Persian Gulf region, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that security and stability are “impossible to maintain by applying a policy of concession.” The ministry demanded that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz take place without any “discrimination, taxes, or permits.”
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously announced that a meeting would be held in Muscat on Monday to negotiate the future of this vital waterway for global oil and gas supply.
Tehran seeks to legitimize its control over the waterway, including the possible imposition of transit fees, and is conducting negotiations with Muscat, whose territorial waters also include the Strait of Hormuz.

Before the war in the Middle East, which was started by the US and Israel at the end of February, the strait was freely accessible to shipping from all countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Manama emphasized its commitment to dialogue but stated that it “will not participate in any collective meeting with Iran until diplomatic relations between these two countries are restored.”
