Thousands without electricity
Due to the wind that intensified on Wednesday, about 2,200 electricity consumers in Lithuania were without power on Wednesday evening, according to data from the Energy Distribution Operator (ESO).
As ESO representative Rasa Juodkienė told BNS earlier, the wind strengthened from 1 p.m., and the most consumers without electricity on Wednesday were in Utena County.
The outage map on the ESO website shows that electricity supply was also disrupted for customers in the Šalčininkai, Akmenė, Vilkaviškis, and Švenčionys districts.
According to meteorologists, on Wednesday evening and night, wind gusts in Lithuania reach up to 13–18 meters per second. It is forecasted that strong wind gusts will continue throughout the night and on Thursday during the day.
