The company DHL, located near Vilnius airport, evacuated all employees due to an explosive device found on the airport premises, and the Vilnius police confirmed that the services received a report about the explosive device, writes the mentioned portal.
Today, July 16, at about 13:43, an object resembling an explosive device was found on the territory of Vilnius airport during excavation works.
In the afternoon, military personnel arrived at the airport, they promise to remove the explosive device, indicated delfi.lt.
At Vilnius airport on Thursday afternoon, bomb disposal experts removed an object resembling an explosive device, the “Shield” plan was temporarily introduced in the area but had no impact on flights and passengers, notes the BNS agency.
As BNS indicated, Lithuanian airports representative Martynas Jaugelavičius said that an object resembling an explosive device was found in the southern part of the capital’s airport at about 13:50 by a contractor performing earth excavation works.
The relevant services were informed about this, which introduced the “Shield” plan at 14:16. After bomb disposal experts removed the found object, the plan was canceled at 16:00.
“This incident did not affect flights and passengers, airport operations continued as usual,” said M. Jaugelavičius.
