On Tuesday, the municipal institution “Klaipėdos šventės,” which organizes Christmas events in the city, announced on Facebook that it is starting to look for a Christmas tree.
“We officially announce the search for the Klaipėda Christmas tree. For the eleventh year, we have been nurturing the tradition of decorating a real green tree donated by people in Klaipėda. All Klaipėda residents and residents of surrounding districts are invited to propose their candidate trees,” reads the Facebook page of “Klaipėdos šventės.”
As every year, the criteria for the green tree remain the same. We are looking for an exceptional tree that is no less than 10 meters tall and has a wide and dense crown of branches.

Proposed candidate trees will be inspected and evaluated. Later, they will be presented to the public, and a commission will select the most suitable green tree.
Both Klaipėda residents and residents of surrounding districts can propose a tree growing in their yard or plot that could become the main Christmas decoration of Klaipėda.
