As reported by storm chasers who call themselves observers of natural phenomena on social networks, a tornado swept through Balczażowice in the Opole Voivodeship on Saturday. After 5 p.m. local time, it caused local but significant damage.

According to Jakub Wyrwas’s Facebook page, the tornado’s strength could have reached IF2 on the international Fujita scale.

Two farm buildings were completely destroyed, one building’s wall was as if torn out, roofs were ripped off, tree branches were completely broken off, and the trees themselves were snapped in half.

There are no reports of injured people.

Monday in Poland, according to meteorologists’ forecasts, will be the coldest day of the first week of June – temperatures will generally not exceed 20 degrees, reaching only 17 degrees in some places.

Also, it will rain heavily, especially a stormy day is expected in eastern, southern, and partly central parts of Poland, writes onet.pl.

In southern Poland, rain started during the night, with thunderstorms in some places. Heavy rains are not short-lived but last for quite a long time, covering increasingly larger areas.

Due to heavy precipitation, warnings about possible threats have been issued to residents. First-level warnings for heavy rain, which may reach up to 30 mm, wind gusts, and small hail have been sent to residents of the Lublin, Mazovia, and Holy Cross Voivodeships, as well as parts of Pomeranian Kuyavia, Łódź, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathia, Podlaskie, Pomerania, Silesia, Warmia-Masuria, and Greater Poland regions. These warnings are valid on Monday from noon to 7 p.m. local time.

Already during the night, warnings about heavy precipitation and possible storms were received by some residents of Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesia, and Lesser Poland Voivodeships. In some places, rainfall may reach up to 60 mm.

According to Gazeta.pl, in some districts of Lubusz, Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesia, and Lesser Poland Voivodeships, first-level hydrological warnings have also been issued – water levels in water bodies may rise suddenly. However, this does not yet mean that floods will start here, but in certain places, water levels may rise threateningly for a short time, so it is advised to keep this in mind and take precautions.

From Tuesday, Poland will be treated to much warmer, and sometimes hot, weather. In most parts of the country, afternoon temperatures will reach 20-25 degrees, and in the western and central parts, it may be 26-28 degrees. Only by the sea and in mountain regions will it be cooler, up to 18-20 degrees.

However, short-term rain will also occur on other days. Precipitation may be accompanied by thunderstorms, strong wind gusts, and hail.
