„Akola Group“ completed the construction of an 11 million euro biomethane plant in Šakiai district

The project invested 11 million euros, of which almost 3.5 million euros constitute European Union support. The plant will be able to produce up to 36.35 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of biomethane per year, which will be supplied to the main gas network and exported to European markets, the portal writes.

The Lukšiai biomethane plant is the first renewable energy project in the “Akola” group of companies.

Mažvydas Šileika, Deputy CEO for Finance and Investments of “Akola group”, told BNS at the time that the company would develop and manage biomethane and other renewable energy projects.

Last July, it was announced that Kaišiadorių paukštynas, indirectly managed by “Akola group”, was temporarily postponing the construction of a 19.4 million euro biomethane gas production plant.
