The explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant occurred on the evening of August 1. Initially, the cause was reported as a gas leak, but later the Russian anti-terrorism committee announced that an explosive device had detonated, which a woman tried to bring in as a gift. Five people were killed, and at least 19 others were injured.
The presumed target of the assassination attempt could have been Colonel General A. Chaiko himself, whom the Ukrainian authorities accuse of involvement in crimes in Bucha. His condition after the incident remains unknown, but his son-in-law died in the explosion, and his 25-year-old daughter Maria Chaiko may have been injured.
