“Today I held a meeting of the Chief Commander’s staff, specifically dedicated to the protection of critical infrastructure, Ukraine’s energy sector, and logistics. Much attention was given to railways. I want to especially thank all our ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ employees – men and women – for their professional and brave work,” said V. Zelensky.
The president noted that the Russians consider Ukraine’s railways one of their main targets. However, despite train delays, strikes, and damage caused, “Ukrzaliznytsia” continues to operate, and Ukraine maintains its logistics network.
“Additional contracts will be signed for systems that will strengthen the protection of railways, border crossing points, and other ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ facilities. This decision has been made,” he said.
According to the president, he also discussed with the prime minister and finance minister the possibility that state-owned banks would support state logistics operations.
“This is not an abstract issue – we are talking about Ukraine’s survival,” emphasized V. Zelensky.
As previously reported by “Ukrinform,” Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha urged Ukraine’s partners to help the country find and acquire locomotives, as Russia systematically attacks Ukraine’s railway infrastructure.
