As BNS informed, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (ŠMSM) announced that from 2024 the school is implementing a project funded by the Environmental Project Management Agency (APVA) – renovating the buildings on T. Kosciuška Street, increasing their energy efficiency.

With project funds, the renovation of the Ballet Department, utility building, and Dance Theater has already been completed.
At the end of July, after signing the construction contract, the renovation of the school’s central building, started in 1954, began.
According to the ministry, the contract amount is nearly 5 million euros.
“During the project, windows will be replaced, external walls will be heated from the inside in all rooms, the roof and the slab above the ground and unheated basement will be insulated, the heating system will be modernized (replacing radiators and their stands), a ventilation system will be installed, electrical wiring will be replaced, and the lighting system will be updated. A component of the project is a remote solar power plant, which has already been purchased and is successfully operating in Ramučiai near Kaunas,” ŠMSM informed.
According to it, the work must be completed by June 30, 2027.
“After the building is renovated, the rooms will be warmer, as some classrooms were very cold and used less in winter, ventilation will be installed in classrooms (which was absent for 20 years), and the funds saved from cheaper heating can be allocated to educational supplies,” the ministry states.

During the renovation of the central building, some students will not be able to study there. For this reason, the Government this week transferred a building managed by Vilnius College in Baltupiai, Didlaukio Street, to the M.K. Čiurlionis school until the end of August next year.
As the school announced last week, students in grades 1–4 will study in the T. Kosciuška Street complex next school year, while general education classes for students in grades 5–12 will take place in Baltupiai.
Music department students in Baltupiai will have both general education and specialty classes, and schedules for Art and Ballet department students will be arranged to minimize travel between different school spaces.
“Temporary premises in Baltupiai are set up in the former Vilnius College Faculty of Arts building, adapted for artistic education. Spacious classrooms, a concert hall, auditoriums, a library, and spaces for individual and group activities await the students here,” the school states.
