It is claimed that on May 10, during a break in the project filming, 22-year-old beekeeper Stavros Floros was freediving in the Dominican Republic when a boat collided with him. The young man ended up directly under the boat’s propeller, writes unilad.com
According to the publication “Toronto Sun,” the propeller blades caused massive damage: S. Floros had his left leg amputated below the knee, and his right ankle was also severely injured.
Immediately after the incident, the television channel “Skai TV” confirmed that the show’s broadcasts were suspended until the incident is “fully investigated.” However, after four months, the victim filed a lawsuit.
On Thursday (September 3), S. Floros filed a $100 million lawsuit against the producers of “Survivor.” According to court documents obtained by the publication “PEOPLE,” the defendants in the case are named as “Acun Medya,” “Acun Medya Global,” “Acun LLC,” media mogul Acun Ilicali, and “Skai TV.”
The lawsuit states: “The producers designed the entire show format so that participants had to engage in freediving in open water – in an area heavily trafficked by tourist boats near Bayahibe (Dominican Republic). This was done without any protective boats, observers, protected zones, or appropriate warning signs, even though there had previously been dangerous situations and even a fatal incident in the same location.”
S. Floros also claimed that after the collision with the tourist boat, he was kept alive “only by a tourniquet tightly applied to his leg to stop the bleeding.” According to the documents, he was urgently transported to a hospital in Miami (Florida), where he underwent several surgeries during a grueling 61-day hospitalization.

After the accident, “Skai TV” issued a statement that filming was suspended “until the causes of the incident are fully investigated.” The channel assured that it “will contribute in every possible way to the participant’s treatment, hospitalization, and rehabilitation.”
The production company “AcunMedya” also released a statement: “Considering our previous announcement about the serious accident in the Dominican Republic and feeling responsible to the public and the participant himself, we find it necessary to clarify the exact course of events. According to the data currently available, the accident occurred when a tourist boat injured the participant while he was freediving outside of the project’s challenges.”
The statement continues: “From the very first moment, urgent assistance was taken to safely transport the injured person. Currently, competent port authorities are investigating the causes of the incident. The participant remains hospitalized, his condition is serious but stable, and there is no threat to life.”
According to “AcunMedya,” S. Floros “was diving without a surface signaling buoy in an area frequently navigated by tourist boats,” so the boat “accidentally hit him.”
The portal UNILAD reached out for comments to “Acun Medya” representatives in the Dominican Republic, Greece, UAE, Turkey, and “Skai TV Greece.”
