These characters have become an integral part of the series and have been traveling with the viewers for several seasons, while others appeared on screen briefly but managed to cause chaos, spark conflicts, or become an important part of an unexpected plot. And some stories, of course, ended as befits a crime series – unexpectedly and not always happily.

However, after eight seasons, the series director Džiugas Siaurusaitis is confident that the audience can still be interested.
“The most important thing is not to try to surprise anyone. I think that is the reason for the success of this series. You just need to do your job well and creatively, and the viewers will definitely feel and appreciate it. And that the series will be full of unexpected plot twists, tension, and action, that goes without saying,” says the director.
Of course, the new season will also retain what viewers have already come to love – intrigues of the criminal world, unexpected decisions, unpredictable plot twists. But alongside the intense action, there will also be more personal stories and relationships, where not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance.
“There is always a balance. There is action, drama, relationships, and all the other things that allow the stories to develop. I think that is exactly what helps to look for something new every season,” says Džiugas Siaurusaitis.

In the ninth season of “Serious Matters,” viewers will again meet the beloved characters, including Baron, played by Vytautas Kaniušonis. However, he is unlikely to live peacefully again, and new colors will appear in his life.
Vytautas himself says that when creating Baron, he does not set strict rules – the actor’s task is primarily to fulfill what is written in the script, and on set, if possible, details can be polished a bit. “I do what is written. The script is written by the screenwriter, who probably imagines the world more, and we, as much as we can, correct, change, or polish some details,” says the actor.
Although on screen V. Kaniušonis portrays Baron, closely connected with the criminal world, the actor himself claims he does not have many similarities with his character. “Maybe there is something dark inside, but overall I am better, more righteous, take fewer risks, and have less adventurism. I have nothing to do with the criminal world,” he smiles.
Meanwhile, off the set, the actor’s summer passed very quickly, so much so that, according to him, he didn’t even notice how it almost ended, and the calendar for the coming months is already almost completely full. “I didn’t have time to enjoy anything – always some work here or there, and so it flew by. I didn’t even notice that summer almost passed. I hope warmer days will still come and I will be able to enjoy them,” says V. Kaniušonis.
