The family reported Emiliane’s disappearance to the police five days ago. Officials say the woman may have been kidnapped by her former partner Ailton Rodrigues de Souza when she left home for a medical examination on August 17.

Officials traced the suspect’s location by tracking the car he had purchased. Police raided an abandoned house in the city of Aguas Lindo de Goias, Brazil. The released video shows officers cutting the lock and entering the building.
Upon entering the house, they broke down the back door and found Emiliane lying on a mattress. The woman was tied with ropes and chains, and her hands, feet, and neck were restrained. Handcuffs were also reportedly used for captivity.
According to the police, the woman had difficulty breathing. She was wearing a mask on her face, and her mouth was gagged. Officers suspect this was done to prevent neighbors from hearing her cries for help.
After being freed, Emiliane was taken to the hospital. She was later released to continue treatment at home. In emotional videos posted on social media, the woman showed injuries on her face and said she is still taking medication and has vision problems.
The woman also gave a chilling account of what she allegedly experienced in captivity. She claimed that her ex-boyfriend put cloths soaked in acid into her mouth.
“The entire inside is burned because he put cloths soaked in acid into my mouth,” Emiliane said in the video.
The police suspect that Ailton drugged the woman before kidnapping her. Officials say the man later admitted this.

A 9 mm pistol, sedatives, and items suspected to have been used to restrain the woman were found during a search of the house.
Officers were also suspicious because Ailton’s own family had reported him missing. Investigators believe the man may have deliberately created a false trail and pretended to be missing while Emiliane was held captive.
Ailton was arrested on Friday—the same day the police freed Emiliane. Later, the court decided to detain the man, with the judge basing the decision on suspicions of repeated threats, physical violence, and illegal deprivation of the woman’s liberty.
The investigation took another chilling turn when officers found a handwritten letter addressed to Emiliane’s family in the house. The letter appeared to be a farewell message and also asked relatives not to contact the police.
It is not yet confirmed who wrote this letter or whether it was written voluntarily or if the woman may have been forced to do so.
Emiliane said she broke up with Ailton last December, but the man reportedly refused to accept the end of the relationship.
The investigation into this horrific incident continues.
