19-year-old right defender helped Celtic secure a 2-1 victory on Saturday, but at one point, more attention was drawn not to his play, but to his strangely damaged footwear.
After contact with a Falkirk player, it became clear that the front part of C. Donovan’s right shoe had completely separated from the sole.
The situation looked so unusual that part of the “griffes” were flipped upwards, and the sole itself remained hanging under the foot.
This image quickly spread on social networks and caused many reactions.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this,” wrote one fan.
Another joked that after such an episode, the footballer “definitely needs a new pair of shoes.”
Yet another fan succinctly summarized the situation: “Colby Donovan’s shoe just split in half.”

There was no shortage of irony online. One user, sharing a photo of the damaged shoe, wrote: “This is probably one of the worst injuries I’ve ever seen, and Colby Donovan acts as if nothing happened.”
Fortunately, the footballer himself was unharmed. C. Donovan continued the match and spent the full 90 minutes on the field.
Celtic ultimately won 2-1, and the team led by Martin O’Neill secured their third consecutive victory and leads the championship.
