Every year the celebration is opened solemnly, with long-time foundation partners, the Lithuanian Police Representative Wind Orchestra, marching around the hospital grounds and announcing – this day and this celebration are dedicated to children. Not all sick little ones have the opportunity to enjoy a cheerful celebration and outdoor entertainment, so the happily marching and playing orchestra, together with the children’s favorite characters, waves to the children through the windows and sends the warmest wishes.

Music by famous national performers during the celebration
The Children’s Day celebration program is unimaginable without music and energetic performances! The long-time member of the foundation community, opera soloist Merūnas Vitulskis, gifted his music to the children and their parents.
“Merūnas’ music sets a bright and hopeful mood, it’s very nice to listen to his songs, which he seems to perform not only with his skills but primarily with his heart,” said the mother of one of the little patients.
The most uplifting emotions for children and youth were caused by Rokas Yan’s performance at the celebration – those who had the strength danced and sang along. Rokas Yan periodically participates in charity events and celebrations for children organized by the Rimantas Kaukėnas Support Foundation.
“It’s very nice that Rokas agrees to come because we see in the heroes’ eyes – his participation, music, and attention to them are very important, especially when going through the hardest diseases,” commented Aistė, one of the foundation team members who organized the children’s celebration. This time, guitarist Matas Ligeika joined Rokas Yan on stage.
The foundation community member and performer Augustė Vedrickaitė also gifted her music to all the celebration participants. Before performing the pieces, she wished strength to the heroes and their relatives and thanked them for the warmth everyone shares with each other during the celebration.
Community and support for those who need it most
At the beginning of the celebration, Rimantas Kaukėnas, founder of the Rimantas Kaukėnas Support Foundation, gave a word of thanks and greeting, emphasizing the dedication of all kind-hearted people to charitable activities and the desire to share with children going through the most challenging trials. R. Kaukėnas expressed many kind words and thanks to the “RED NOSES – Clown Doctors” team, who are an especially important part of the children’s celebration every year.
“In such celebrations, the most important thing is not only entertainment or concerts – the most important moments are when children can forget the hospital for a while, feel just like children, and be surrounded by sincere attention and laughter. We are glad to be part of this celebration and to create brighter emotions
for the little patients and their families,” – shared thoughts before the celebration the head of the RED NOSES Clown Doctors organization, Aistė Lacitė.

The celebration was hosted and invited everyone to enjoy each other’s company and entertainment by Laima Tamulytė-Stončė, a member of the R. Kaukėnas Support Foundation community.
At the beginning of the celebration, a greeting was given by Associate Professor Dr. Gilvydas Verkauskas, a pediatric surgeon at Santaros Clinics, who shared that such celebrations and gatherings are no less important for children than professional medical care and attention.
Colorful celebration program
And there was certainly no shortage of entertainment – actors from “Live in Theater” prepared a performance for the children, and scientists performed the most interesting experiments that helped to understand how various laws of physics work and how they can be used for entertainment.
The children awaited a dessert show, real Italian Gianluca de Marco ice cream, freshly made pancakes with various toppings, bubble tea, and the opportunity to paint colorful drawings on their faces. The celebration featured professional caricature and cartoon artist Ramūnas Vaitkus, who invited every participant to leave the event not empty-handed but with a beautiful memory – their own caricature.
Special attention during the celebration was given to the young pigeon breeder Taironas Bliujus. The fourteen-year-old brought his pigeons and talked about their ringing, care, and pigeon competitions. One pigeon, with the support and applause of the celebration participants, was released to return home. Taironas also talked about training pigeons – how they are taught to return home. The young man’s passion for raising and training pigeons was simply captivating, so the little event participants gathered boldly near the stage and carefully watched Taironas’ story and the pigeon demonstration.
