British Transport Police reported that they are responding to an incident in Wickford, Essex, and stated that “the rear carriages have derailed (…) but they did not overturn.”

“We are responding together with paramedics and firefighters. There are currently no reports of injuries,” the police added.

Train operator Greater Anglia reported train service disruptions on the route between London and East Essex.

On Thursday, a suburban train running between London and southeast England derailed near the town of Lewes.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch is investigating the causes of the incident in Lewes and said new information should be provided next week.

The condition of two people who suffered serious injuries on Thursday is, according to doctors, not life-threatening, and the other 18 injured passengers have already been discharged from the hospital.

Rail accidents, especially fatal ones, are relatively rare in the United Kingdom.
