Another 20 percent plan to allocate 201–300 euros for one child’s school preparation this year. 20 percent intend to spend 51–100 euros, 17 percent – more than 300 euros, and 6 percent indicate that they plan a budget of up to 50 euros for school preparation.

Half of parents (50 percent) state that they plan to spend similarly on school preparation this year as last year. Some families anticipate higher expenses: 17 percent of respondents say they will spend a little more, and 13 percent – significantly more than last year.
School shopping baskets – clothes and footwear
According to the survey data, if last year stationery made up the largest part of school supplies, this year most parents will buy clothes and footwear – 80 percent. Stationery remained in second place – 77 percent of parents plan to purchase them, and in third place – books and workbooks, which 60 percent of respondents include in their school shopping basket.
More than half of parents – 57 percent – usually buy sportswear for the new school year, and 40 percent – a backpack.

Calm and planned school preparation
According to the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication at “Lidl Lietuva”, preparing for school can become a pleasant family activity if the shopping list is planned in advance and children have the opportunity to choose the items they like themselves.
“First, it’s worth reviewing existing school supplies and checking with the child what is actually missing. This makes it easier to create a list of necessary items and avoid spontaneous purchases. It’s also worth involving children in the preparation: it’s important for them not only to have the necessary items but also to choose them themselves according to their interests,” advises A.Bubnelis.
