As lrytas.lt writes, VSAT officers detained a Russian citizen on Thursday who arrived in Lithuania from the Kaliningrad region via the Nemunas River. The man was detained on the shore, in the territory of Pagėgiai municipality.

He is a 60-year-old man.
According to Interior Minister M. Katelynas, although this man applied for political asylum, it was decided to send him back to the territory of the Russian Federation.
The minister stated that VSAT immediately informed the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior about the incident. The detained man reportedly explained that he is persecuted in Russia because of his actions on social networks.
“The situation was assessed by the responsible institutions, including the VSD.
After consulting with the services, a clear decision was made – the man will be returned to Russia,” M. Katelynas told lrytas.lt.
