It is reported that the construction of this ship in 2009 cost about 547 million US dollars. In 2025–2026, the ship underwent a major renovation. In addition to the “Yacht Club” area, it also features a renovated SPA center, a gym, and restaurants. After the reconstruction, the “MSC Magnifica” became one of the most modern ships in its class.
The name of this ship comes from the Italian language and means “magnificent” or “wonderful.” The godmother of the “MSC Magnifica” was the legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren.
Inside the ship shines luxury: a theater with 1,250 seats has been installed. Every evening, professional musical and dance performances are held there.
The indoor pool has a glass roof. Because of this, passengers can swim even when it rains or when sailing in cooler regions – this feature is especially appreciated on Northern European cruises.

The ship has as many as 13 passenger decks and more than 1,200 cabins. It can carry up to 3,200 passengers, served by more than a thousand crew members.
In 2019, the “MSC Magnifica” embarked on its first world cruise. The cruise lasted 119 days, during which the ship visited six continents, 32 countries, and 49 ports. Since then, it has become one of the company’s main global cruise ships.
This year, it is already the 49th cruise ship to pass through the gates of the Klaipėda port.
This week, Klaipėda will receive two more cruise ships: on September 16 (Wednesday), the 231 m long “Artania” will pass through the gates of Klaipėda port, and on September 18 (Friday), the 258 m long frequent visitor to our city “Norwegian Sun” will arrive. Both sail under the flag of the Bahamas.
