The epicenter of the underground shocks was located 32 km southwest of the small Sarangani Island. They were recorded at 12:14 local time (7:14 Lithuanian time), USGS reported.

A tsunami was not forecast, and no reports of casualties or major damage have been received so far.
Sarangani Island rescuer Harlis Sauro told AFP news agency that the earthquake occurred at a time when many people were gathered to receive government subsidies.
“It shook quite strongly. I saw panicked people. They were running and shouting,” he said.
“The earthquake happened while the local authorities were distributing financial aid, so there were many people in the square, but everyone is safe,” added H. Sauro.
“Based on our assessments and experience, we do not expect casualties or damage,” said the rescuer.

According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, the epicenter of Wednesday’s earthquake was at a depth of 62 km.
This underground shock occurred after a powerful earthquake on June 8, during which buildings collapsed, landslides occurred, and at least 76 people died on the nearby Mindanao Island.
This earthquake, triggered by tectonic shifts in the Cotabato trench, raised the seabed about two meters, exposing corals and affecting marine life.
Earthquakes in the Philippines are not uncommon, as the country is located in the seismically active Pacific “Ring of Fire,” stretching from Japan through Southeast Asia to the Pacific basin.
