The draft resolution provides for funds to be divided among three law enforcement agencies: 387.9 thousand euros – Police, 382.6 thousand euros – State Border Guard Service, and 20.6 thousand euros – Public Security Service.
“The institutions involved in managing this situation (…) operate not under normal conditions, but in a special environment of constantly changing threats,” the document states.

The emergency situation due to smuggled balloons allowed from Belarus to Lithuania has been in effect since December 9, 2025. This is the first time that funds from the reserve would be allocated for officers’ overtime.
The Ministry of the Interior’s letter notes that currently “there is no possibility to increase the funds allocated to the above-mentioned statutory institutions by reallocating this year’s appropriations.”
