Having worked for more than 24 hours to restart the system – a process slowed and complicated by fuel shortages – engineers managed to accelerate its restoration during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
According to officials, electricity supply was restored to more than 65% of households in Havana overnight, where 1.7 million people live.

This was the fourth nationwide power outage in less than six months and the ninth since the end of 2024 on this island with a population of 9.6 million.
