177 collectives will participate in Sunday’s event: choirs, vocal ensembles, dance groups, folk instrument ensembles and orchestras from 58 Lithuanian cities and towns, announced the Klaipėda City Municipality Culture Center “Žvejų rūmai”.
The musical event of the Song Festival will be complemented and given solemnity by the Lithuanian Army Orchestra, led by orchestra conductor Major Egidijus Ališauskas.

The first song festival in Klaipėda was held in 1869.
Song and dance festivals in the Baltic States have been declared a masterpiece of UNESCO’s Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, and in 2008 they were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
