Paris City Hall announced that the swimming season in three official bathing areas should begin on July 4.

The Seine was reopened to swimmers last summer for the first time in a century, after Paris allocated more than a billion euros to years-long efforts to make the water clean enough for the 2024 Olympic Games.
This year, the bathing areas will again include “Bras de Grenelle” near the Eiffel Tower, “Bras Marie” near Notre Dame Cathedral, and “Bercy” in the eastern part of the city.
According to city authorities, last year about 100,000 people queued to jump into the water, despite a slow start to the season when rain affected water quality.

Last year, about 50,000 swimmers took a dip in the Marne River in the eastern suburbs.
Swimming spots in Joinville-le-Pont, Champigny-sur-Marne, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, and Maisons-Alfort will once again welcome swimmers. This year, a fifth location will be added in Noisy-le-Grand, northeast of Paris.
