“While carrying out missions in the Black Sea operational zone, one of the Ukrainian Navy’s surface drones entered the zone of influence of enemy electronic warfare systems, lost control, and ended up near the Romanian coast,” the Ukrainian Navy stated.
A naval drone exploded in Romania’s Black Sea port of Constanta on Friday morning, with no casualties, the Ministry of Defense announced.
Officials reported that the area had been evacuated.
Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations, said at a press conference that helicopters were deployed to search for other drones, and officials sent warning text messages to residents.

The Russian embassy stated in a message on the “Telegram” platform that the naval drone that exploded in Romania’s Black Sea port of Constanta on Friday morning was Ukrainian, adding that attempts to “directly or indirectly” link the drone to Russia were “completely unfounded.”
This is the latest incident after two people were injured last week when a drone attributed to Russia crashed into an apartment building in the country.
