The latter loudly reproached Laurynas Kasčiūnas, who became the party leader after the lost parliamentary elections, not only for the allegedly unclear direction of the party but also for leadership.
M. Maldeikis criticized the party leader for not expressing a clear position on the proposal being considered in the Seimas to hold a referendum on the concept of family together with the local elections next year.
The conservative would like the party to distance itself from the proposal of the National Alliance leader Vytautas Sinica and to commit in advance not to form any coalitions with this party in the future.

Although there were suggestions within the party to even remove M. Maldeikis from the Homeland Union, L. Kasčiūnas did not agree that strict sanctions should be applied to the party member. “I am a democratic chairman. What is happening now is not beneficial to the party, but you cannot throw a person out for having a different opinion. We are not Bolsheviks,” L. Kasčiūnas said earlier to 15min.

Asked about the quarrels among the conservatives, A. Kubilius admitted not seeing major differences in views. “I only know that such discussions used to arise constantly with us. Similar topics also came up when I was chairman,” the former conservative leader, currently serving as a European Commissioner responsible for defense and space, said laughingly on the 15min show “Let’s Discuss. With Tadas Ignatavičius”.

The European Commissioner is also the author of the famous slogan “Turn to the right.” L. Kasčiūnas claims that he is steering the party more to the right.
