Since 2024, he has held the position of vice president of “Lithuanian Basketball” and was responsible for the development of youth basketball mastery programs.
R. Skaisgirys confirmed to 15min that he is considering running for the ALK president position.
“I think no one knows the current situation of the Lithuanian basketball pyramid better – from finances to content, which includes children, coaches, infrastructure, and so on,” said 57-year-old R. Skaisgirys to 15min. “I have my own vision of everything. I can offer many solutions. I don’t want to talk about what was wrong, but about what is needed and how to do it. Another thing – the chaos, dissatisfaction, and division of camps need to be ended. Lithuanian basketball needs a person with whom everyone can talk. Absolutely everyone.”

Although the names Remigijus Milašius and Darius Gudelis are also heard in basketball circles, neither has yet confirmed their official candidacy.
Candidacies can be submitted until next Friday – September 25 at 4 p.m., and the early ALK presidential elections will take place on October 14.
