He noted that during the years of the full-scale war, Ukraine has significantly increased drone production – from a few thousand to almost 10 million per year. According to the politician, further development of these capabilities along with the creation of missile systems could fundamentally change the balance of power.
G. Landsbergis emphasized that creating a comprehensive deterrence system requires not only weapons but also the necessary infrastructure, including control systems and satellite capabilities.
“Add ballistic missiles to that. Good control systems, satellites, and similar things are also needed – to reach a level where Ukraine, with or without allies, could tell Putin: ‘Look, even if you try again next time, your industry will be gone’,” said the politician.
In his opinion, Ukraine has exceptional opportunities to create such a system, and Western countries can help it achieve this.

“There is no other country that could do this – only Ukraine. And we, the West, can help Ukraine achieve this,” said G. Landsbergis.
At the same time, he stated that Ukraine’s experience could be used to strengthen the defense of other countries potentially threatened by Russian aggression.
First of all, Lithuania and other countries bordering Russia could develop their own long-range deterrence systems adapted to their capabilities. According to the politician, this would allow regional countries to rely not only on allies’ support but also on their own capabilities.
