Two illegal migrants were turned back at the border with Belarus

Latvian border guards turned back 31 migrants on Friday, while no attempts to illegally cross the border were recorded on the Polish border on Thursday.

This year, more than 1,500 illegal migrants have been denied entry into Lithuania. Last year, there were over 1,600 attempts to enter the country illegally from Belarus in unauthorized places, and the year before that, the number was 1,002.

Since the beginning of the migration crisis caused by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented 26,000 foreigners from entering the country illegally.

The influx of migrants into the eastern EU members from Belarus began in 2021, with the West accusing the Minsk regime of organizing it.
