These plans were reported to the agency Reuters by two informed sources.
According to them, AfD co-chairs Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla intend to participate in negotiations to renew gas supplies. A. Weidel previously promised the German media that if victorious in the elections, she would restore cheap Russian energy resources, which are said to be the basis of Germany’s industrial success.

Trump’s people not informed about this
The meeting would only take place if Russia and Ukraine agreed on a preliminary peace agreement. The organizers hope that US representatives, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who have been trying for more than a year and a half to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, will participate as a third party in the negotiations.
Possible meeting locations mentioned include Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and India. However, a senior US official told Reuters that S. Witkoff and J. Kushner are not informed about such plans.
According to sources from The New York Times, Washington has begun considering the possibility of offering Russia certain business deals even before the final resolution of the conflict in Ukraine – this would be a sign of the US administration’s serious intentions to “reset” relations with Moscow. Donald Trump had previously raised the issue of resuming the operation of the Nord Stream pipelines, not ruling out the possibility of American businesses acquiring them.

The EU opposes
However, analysts emphasize that renewing gas supplies contradicts EU regulations and technical capabilities.
The European Union prohibits its operators from participating in deals related to the operation of Nord Stream, and lifting sanctions would require the consent of all 27 countries. Analysts doubt how Poland and the Baltic states could be convinced.
Moreover, the EU has set a goal to completely stop purchasing Russian gas by October 2027. Of the four Nord Stream branches, only one (Nord Stream 2) remains intact, but Germany has not certified it.
