US President Donald Trump is preparing to host Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the White House next week, where various issues will be discussed, including trade, artificial intelligence (AI), and the US-Iran war.

The state news agency “Xinhua” reported that during a conversation with M. Rubio, the Chinese Foreign Minister stated that China and the US “should prepare for the next stage of high-level talks, guided by the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit.”
Wang Yi also told his US counterpart that bilateral relations have “generally been developing in the direction of constructive strategic stability” for some time.
“Xinhua” added that, as Beijing seeks to mediate the Tehran-Washington war, the two countries’ foreign ministers also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East.

This conflict, which flared up after the first strikes by the US and Israel on Iran at the end of February, casts a long shadow, with China seeking to avoid US sanctions on countries maintaining ties with Tehran, although there have been reports that Beijing provided Iran with intelligence needed to strike American troops.
Even greater concern is caused by the trade war, as the two largest world economies are still looking for ways to mitigate the effects of global tariffs imposed by D. Trump.
