The state news agency “Xinhua” reported that during a conversation with M. Rubio, the Chinese Foreign Minister stated that China and the US “should prepare for the next stage of high-level talks, guided by the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit.”

Wang Yi also told his US counterpart that bilateral relations have “generally been developing in the direction of constructive strategic stability” for some time.

“Xinhua” added that, as Beijing seeks to mediate the Tehran-Washington war, the two countries’ foreign ministers also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East.
