Shocking footage has emerged showing a huge crowd of tourists waiting to be rescued, while the night sky was lit up by a bright orange light and filled with thick smoke.
Desperate holidaymakers are seen standing in the dark as their hotel burned on the Croatian island of Brač.
Some of them, escaping the flames, even jumped into the water, while burning embers fell on the hotel guests.

We felt the heat of the approaching fire.
Dozens of Britons fled to a flotilla of about 50 rescue boats after a general alert was issued. This was organized by local fishermen and people involved in tours.
62-year-old holidaymaker Trevor Wright, an IT manager who visited the resort with his 68-year-old wife Sharon, said: “I will never forget how we felt the heat of the approaching fire while waiting for the rescue boats.”
