After trying the transporter, the head of state noted that there is enough space even for a tall person. “You know, everything is fine, there is enough room for my legs here – suitable even for a tall man,” G. Nausėda said with a smile, causing laughter among those around him with this witty comment.

However, the main purpose of this visit is serious bilateral agreements and strengthening Lithuania’s national security. In June this year, the State Defense Council approved the decision to acquire 936 “Patria” armored personnel carriers of various modifications by 2034.

“This means that in the coming years Lithuania will become the largest client of ‘Patria.’ I hope that this decision will also encourage the localization of ‘Patria’ transporter production, technical maintenance, and major repair activities in Lithuania,” the President said during the visit.

In order to attract investments, the head of state assured Finnish representatives that Lithuania’s economy is resilient, rapidly growing, and has a strong industrial base. According to G. Nausėda, both state-owned and private capital companies are already prepared and have expressed interest in establishing a “Patria” armored personnel carrier factory in Lithuania.

Moreover, the President reminded about the favorable business environment – a special and process-facilitating “Green Corridor” procedure is applied in Lithuania for large defense industry investors.
