As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, reports of possible air danger have been issued in Lithuania in recent months, but a drone has been shot down over the country’s sky for the first time. This was previously done in Latvia and Estonia.
The last time part of southeastern Lithuania’s residents were warned about possible air danger was last Sunday, but it was later determined that this happened when radars detected a flock of birds.
Earlier that same day, services near Varėna also detected an object crossing the country’s territory and entering Russia’s Kaliningrad region, possibly coming from Belarus. Due to this incursion, air danger was not declared in Lithuania, citing lack of data.
