As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, reports of possible air threats have been announced in Lithuania in recent months, but a drone has been shot down over the country’s sky for the first time. This was previously done in Latvia and Estonia.
The last time some residents of southeastern Lithuania were informed about a possible air threat was last Sunday, but it was later determined that this occurred when radars detected a flock of birds.

Earlier the same day, services near Varėna also recorded an object crossing the country’s territory and entering the Russian Kaliningrad region, possibly coming from Belarus. Due to this incursion, no air threat was declared in Lithuania, citing lack of data.
