Over a hundred years of operation, the “Anykščiai Wine” factory has become an integral part of the identity of the Anykščiai region: its history has been connected from the very beginning with local orchards, apples, and people who have nurtured the traditions of fruit and berry processing.

“This anniversary is more than just a significant date. It represents a hundred years of experience, people’s work, bold ideas, and traditions that are still alive in Anykščiai today. On this occasion, we want to share our story with the city community and guests. ‘Anykščiai Wine’ has gone through different historical stages, economic changes, and technological transformations together with the country,” says Vidmantė Mickevičienė, head of the “MV GROUP Production” visitor centers.
On September 26, a total of 3 tours are planned, each accommodating up to 50 people, so about 150 locals and city guests will be able to experience the history of “Anykščiai Wine” up close. Participation in the tours is free, but those wishing to visit the “Anykščiai Wine” factory are invited to register in advance. This can be done here.
Unheard stories and drink tastings
Visitors will be invited not only to look around “Anykščiai Wine” and get acquainted with the production processes but also to hear the most interesting historical facts and stories, both real and imagined, told by the tour guide – the charismatic manager of the “Anykščiai Wine” visitor center, Gintarė Siniakovienė.
Guests will also visit the visitor center, where archival drink labels and international exhibition awards are displayed – including the highest award received in Paris during the interwar period for Anykščiai strawberry wine.
During the walk, there will be not only an educational program but also tastings of non-alcoholic drinks produced at the factory.
“We want everyone who visits to take away the most pleasant experience, enrich themselves with historical knowledge, and discover new flavors. At the same time, we want to celebrate that the century-old factory continues the traditions started by its founder Balys Karazija, while applying the most modern technologies,” emphasizes V. Mickevičienė.
The “Apple Festival” was chosen intentionally
The doors of “Anykščiai Wine” will open to visitors not by chance but during the traditional “Apple Festival.”
“This traditional festival marks the end of autumn work, and Anykščiai in autumn is distinguished by a special apple scent and is famous for its orchards. Apples are the raw material that our factory processes the most, so at this time of year, a very pleasant aroma of fresh apples fills the entire environment,” says V. Mickevičienė.
Visitors are recommended to choose comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for the weather conditions: the tour will take place both inside the factory and outdoors, and in the historic building, there will be quite a few stairs to climb. Special clothing required for visiting the production premises will be provided on site.
