When the radio station M1 started broadcasting in 1989, the very first song played on air was the hit “Radio Ga Ga” by the band “Queen.” However, the first Lithuanian song to be played on the country’s most listened-to radio station was the legendary “Vasara” by “Hiperbolė.” This fact has huge symbolic significance in the history of Lithuanian music, and the mentioned hit remains one of the most well-known and beloved songs in Lithuanian playlists to this day.
