Officials detained B. Aspinall when he tried to leave home via Denpasar airport. As confirmed by the Ngurah Rai immigration service, he spent two weeks in an immigration detention center before being deported.

The 27-year-old was caught only by using facial recognition technology and analyzing CCTV footage showing the sexual act taking place in front of a residential house in the Tibubeneng village.

The video, which later spread online, shows B. Aspinall and an unknown woman performing the act; it is reported that this happened on August 22 in the presence of the homeowner. According to local media reports, the owner caught B. Aspinall and the unknown woman, but they ignored her request to stop.

B. Aspinall faced up to one year in prison for the sexual act. However, he was handed over to immigration authorities for deportation after the police received information that the homeowner did not wish to press charges. At that time, officials stated: “On Tuesday (August 25, 2026), the man was detained by an officer at the Gusti Ngurah Rai airport (immigration checkpoint) as he was preparing to depart for Brisbane.”

He was transferred to the Badung district police for further legal proceedings. The woman, suspected to be a tourist, is still being sought by the police.

A local resident, while going to pray, unexpectedly caught this couple and shouted at them several times. The entire alleged incident lasted 15 minutes, after which both individuals left. The police described this event as an “irresponsible act.”

It is believed that sexual relations in public places in Bali bring bad energy to homes. In this case, after the improper act, the woman was forced to perform Hindu rituals. The Ngurah Rai immigration service reported:

“The police are still determining the identity of the suspected foreign woman, and authorities are making efforts to find and hold her accountable. The immigration service has also added the offender to a watchlist to monitor his movements crossing immigration checkpoints.” Police chief Ketut Sukadana stated that these suspected “improper actions may cause public concern.”

K. Sukadana added: “Especially among Tibubeneng residents; this could negatively affect the security and tourism image of this area if this issue is not taken seriously and strict measures are not taken against the offenders – whether based on local customary or national law.”
