Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February 2022, is intensifying missile and drone attacks targeting civilian infrastructure facilities.
According to local officials, during the night strike in Zaporizhzhia, which destroyed a house, two people also died.
“It was complete terror,” 56-year-old local resident Liudmila told the AFP news agency.
In the southern port city of Odesa, residential buildings were damaged, entire floors were destroyed during Russian missile and drone attacks, and 35 people were injured, reported regional governor Oleh Kiper.
Meanwhile, Kyiv has increased the number of long-range strikes on Russian territory, especially targeting oil refineries and logistics warehouses. This escalation has resulted in the highest number of civilian casualties since the start of the war.
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged his US counterpart Donald Trump to impose “strict” and immediate sanctions on Russia to limit its missile production capacity.
US-mediated diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have so far yielded no tangible results.
