We managed to sail through COVID, electricity price hikes, the uncertainty brought by the war, and many other challenges. But these last years were especially tough, so we made the difficult decision to put an end to this Lalene story.
We are still here until October 5th. We are still baking, brewing coffee, making breakfasts, ordered cakes, smiling and waiting for you. Thank you for being and still being with Lalene,” shared the founder and manager of the dessert house Jelena Aleksandravičienė on the Facebook page.
In an interview with “Vakarų ekspresas,” the entrepreneur admitted that making this decision was very hard.
“Winter is coming. We no longer want to go through what we experienced last year.
Others are coming with big investments and opportunities. Something new is needed, and we have been hovering on the edge of survival for the second year,” said J. Aleksandravičienė about the decision to close the doors.
The entrepreneur did not hide that the situation worsened when one of the dessert chain “Azukeria” cafes opened its doors on Turgaus Street.
“As soon as they opened, we were completely empty for two months. Already in spring, I started seriously considering closing, but there were big debts, I didn’t want us to leave with debts.
For now, I do not plan to look for another place. Two weeks – just tears. I invite Klaipėda residents to visit ‘Lalene’ until the closing day.
We want to sell off the remaining stock and settle with suppliers,” invites J. Aleksandravičienė to the last meetings at the dessert house.
According to Rekvizitai.lt data, the small partnership (MB) “Jelenos desertai,” managing the “Lalene” brand, ended 2025 with a loss of 80,364 euros.
MB debts in 2025 amounted to 103,535 euros.
Last year, “Vanilės namai,” which made desserts, closed its doors in Klaipėda. The city center also lost the sweet pastry house “Cinamonė.”
