This time, the theater festival will be opened on September 25th, Friday, by the party series “Alisa,” promising non-malicious dances, live events, and a themed evening without masks.

The creators of “Alisa” are actor and public figure Marius Čižauskas and the vocalist of the group “Garbanotas,” Šarukas Joneikis.

“Sirens” is a collective work. Not only because the festival is created by a large team of people, but also because many Lithuanian theater and performing arts organizations and creators contribute to its implementation: directors, actors, musicians, and others. Also, the audience, without whom the festival would not happen.
Therefore, every year we choose to open “Sirens” with a different partner – a cultural or artistic phenomenon that we want to draw attention to and which, by its nature, allows all of us to celebrate theater together. Last year it was the “We are Propagande” event series, and this year – “Alisa.” So this year the sirens dance with Alisa, and Alisa – with the sirens,” says the festival’s artistic director Kristė Agota Savė.
“Alisa” was born six years ago, before the pandemic. It arose from the desire to come to a party and listen to cheerful music. Not just to get stuck in dancing, but to experience something unexpected that would delight and surprise,” say the creators of this party series, “all three components have their explanations. Non-malicious dances mean that we play happier, lighter, and more diverse music – not necessarily electronic. The music selection is very eclectic.

Live events indicate that live instruments unexpectedly sound alongside the dance space. We usually organize the event in the “Sodas 2123” space: performances spread throughout the act hall and sometimes move outside. Each time you can expect some small surprise. The opening of “Sirens” will also take place at “Sodas 2123,” so we have prepared surprises as well. “Alisa” has always been different, musical, and theatrical. It is not just about dancing – it is about community, people who come, spend time together, and take away good emotions.”

In the festival opening “Alisa, sirens!” program:
· A joint musical number by Paulius Vaškas and Simonas Kaupinis
· Tomas Valenta and Tomas Žilinskas from the group “Bohemos tarifas”
· The girls’ vocal ensemble “Sauja.”
· Composer, music lover, and instrumentalist Simas Okas
· Immersive performance by “Magnetinė dainava” (Lukas Klimkevičius and Džiugas Bražiūnas).

“In summary – there will definitely be fun dances, many beautiful, well-spirited people, and surprises. If anyone thinks this event is only for theater people, I can reassure you that, as always, Alisa welcomes everyone. We want “Alisa” with “Sirens” to become a celebration! Just as we celebrate Theater Day, it would be nice to have a tradition to celebrate and mark the beginning of the season,” says Marius Čižauskas. More about the opening can be found here.
The upcoming party organizers say that since “Alisa” was born in troubled times, just before the pandemic, and those troubles have not gone away, being together and the sense of community remain very important: “Only by being together do we create connections, move forward, and are strong.
Paraphrasing the escape to theater theme raised by “Sirens,” I would say that we will not run away from each other after all, so let’s remember that we are in the same boat and sail. This is a fiesta and celebration for everyone – absolutely everyone who wants to spend September 25th in Vilnius and go out into the city! Advance tickets are already online.”
The international theater festival “Sirens” opening event “Alisa, sirens!” will take place on September 25th at the “Sodas 2123” space. This is the only event of the “Alisa” party series this year.
