Such a procedure was announced on their social networks by the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Drama Theater, the Drama and Comedy Theater located on the Left Bank of the Dnipro, and the Youth Theater.

The theaters indicate that upon declaration of a red air raid alert, performances would be immediately stopped, and the audience would be informed. They could retreat to the nearest shelters or safe places.
For visitors of the Lesya Ukrainka Theater, the nearest shelter is the Teatralna metro station; viewers of the theater on the Left Bank of the Dnipro would be directed to the Komod shopping center, and the Youth Theater’s audience to the lower floor of the building. The “Zoloti Vorota,” “Teatralna,” and “Khreshchatyk” metro stations are also designated as safe places.
After the danger signal ends or the threat decreases to the yellow level, performances would continue.
When the yellow air raid alert level is declared, performances in these theaters are not stopped. In such cases, the viewers themselves can decide whether to stay in the hall, the theater building, or its territory. If the yellow level is declared before the performance, it starts according to the scheduled time.
However, a viewer who decides not to attend the theater during or before the performance due to the declared yellow alert level can register their absence with the theater administrator and later exchange the ticket for another performance. This option applies in all the mentioned theaters.
Performances continue even during the siren
The “Zoloti Vorota” theater in Kyiv also continues its activities during air raid alerts. The theater’s director and artistic director Marianna Rozstalnaya told the news portal NV that the theater is located in a basement, so performances are not stopped during the air raid siren.

“We understand that when the red level is declared, some viewers may not be able to reach ‘Zoloti Vorota’ in time. Currently, the most convenient way to get to the theater is from the ‘Arsenalna’ metro station. Therefore, if the air raid alert is declared just before the start of the performance, we wait, but no longer than 15–20 minutes,” said M. Rozstalnaya.
She also reminded that late viewers are not admitted to the hall.
“If viewers are already on their way to the theater and need more information, they can contact us by phone or on social networks. We can also transfer tickets to another performance – in such cases, please contact us and inform us before the performance starts,” added the theater director.
Two air raid alert levels introduced in Kyiv
Such a procedure began to be followed in Kyiv after a differentiated air threat warning system was introduced in the city on September 6.
From now on, Kyiv residents can receive two levels of warnings. The yellow level means a drone attack threat, and the red level indicates a possible massive drone attack, missile strike threat, or a combined missile and drone attack.
The decision to introduce different threat levels was made after Russia began attacking Ukrainian cities throughout the day. Due to prolonged air alerts, residents’ lives and work were paralyzed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the differentiated system should allow companies to continue operating when the yellow threat level is declared.
